  • Every web page should have three to five search terms targeted for that particular page. To test if your pages are keyword dense enough, use the Search Engine World “keyword density analyzer” tool. It’s free. http://www.searchengineworld.com/misc/tools.htm Enter the URL of any page and the tool’s spider will visit and analyze your content and immediately report back which search terms are the most repeated on the page. Of course you want the most repeated terms to be your targeted keywords.
     
  • TIP: Reward search engines for choosing your site. Said another way, make sure your keywords are very dense at the top of each page, reinforcing search engines that the words queried are discussed in detail on your page. Many search engines put a heavy emphasis on the first 25 to 30 words of any web page. Therefore, you’ll want your first few paragraphs to be richly optimized. Show them through great sales copy that your Web site is appropriate to return in the search. What’s more, by using your keywords densely in the first paragraph of every page, it reinforces to the customer they’ve arrived at the “right” place.
     
  • TIP: Whenever you post a link to another page not on your Web site, make sure it opens in a new window. This way, your Web site will always remain behind the new page, making it easier for visitors to return to the last page they visited on your site.
     
  • TIP: An inbound link doesn’t count toward your Web site’s popularity unless it’s hyperlinked. Make sure all links include a full address, specifically the http:// in front of your www.yourbusiness.com. It’s the http:// that creates the hyperlink, without it you’re wasting your time. An example of a hyperlinked URL is – http://www.yourbusiness.com.
